Active body Physical Therapy
Over the 25 years that I have been a physical therapist, I have had the opportunity to work in both the hospital (inpatient and outpatient settings) and in private practice focusing mainly on orthopaedic physical therapy. After 17 years, I took a short leave to raise my family. At this time I was introduced to Pilates-based movement re-education by a colleague and began my study and training in this discipline. I could see the potential that this form of movement based therapy could have for the rehab client and was excited to learn more about this discipline in order to develop a treatment program (Balanced Body Program) designed to address postural dysfunctions, retrain core support and stabilization, alleviate chronic neck/back/shoulder/knee issues, and balance re-educaton. Each client is given an individualized assessment and is taught how to support their bodies from centre, stabilizing through the myofascial lines of movement.
During my years of practice as a physical therapist, I have taken numerous courses including manual therapy, neurology, respiratory and exercise therapy and I look forward to the opportunity to combine my physical therapy experience and Pilates training to provide individualized treatment and exercise program instruction.
In addition to the above credentials, Matt is also certified in:
Path of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy
Certified through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (CAFCI)
Member of Ontario and Canadian Physical Therapy Association including Orthopaedic Division
I have clinical experience in the areas of inpatient general rehabilitation, acute care inpatient neurosurgery, sports medicine, and outpatient orthopaedic physiotherapy throughout South-Western Ontario. The past years in Windsor have been focused on outpatient orthopaedics, working with private, extended health, motor vehicle accident, and WSIB patients.
My passion has always been orthopaedics and sports medicine. I’m an avid golfer in the spring, summer and fall, and snowboarder in the winter. I played a high level of competitive soccer as a young adult, and continued on with hockey, wakeboarding, mixed martial arts, tennis, squash, and both indoor/beach volleyball.
