Program Description:
This program provides a thorough and broad-based education in massage therapy that maximizes personal and professional potential.

The four-term schedule takes 70 weeks to complete and requires three 4-hour class sessions per week, plus additional study and practice outside of class. The four-term schedule allows students to complete the program at a pace that can fit with other life responsibilities.

The two-term schedule takes 35 weeks to complete and requires six 4-hour class sessions per week, plus additional study and practice outside of class. The two-term schedule allows students to complete the program on a shorter, more consolidated pace than the four-term schedule.

The program exceeds the educational requirements for the MBLEx state licensing exam, as well as for licensure in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and many other states.*

Program Objectives:

  • Competency in seven bodywork modalities: classic Western massage, cross-tissue massage, trigger-point massage, energy balancing, on-site chair massage, sports and remedial massage, and acupressure.
  • Practical knowledge base in the health sciences: anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology.
  • Foundational, holistic body/mind/spirit understanding of wellness with techniques for one's own and one's clients' self-care.
  • Practice of personal development skills such as mindfulness, grounding, centering, stress management, body mechanics, alignment, and conditioning.
  • Development and integration of the skills required in the therapeutic relationship such as empathy, boundary setting, intuitive awareness, effective communication, and healthy, professional ethics.
  • Development of professional confidence and competence through participation in the student clinic.
  • Exploration of personal career goals and development of professional skills to successfully manage either a private practice or employment in a variety of settings.
